Preferred Diagnostic Procedure:
- Laparoscopy: Minimally invasive procedure to visually examine the peritoneum and take tissue samples for biopsy.
- Imaging Tests: Utilization of CT scans, MRI, and PET scans to obtain detailed images and assess the spread of cancer within the abdominal cavity.
Preferred Treatment Procedure:
- Cytoreductive Surgery: Surgical removal of visible tumors within the peritoneum, often combined with heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) to target remaining cancer cells.
- Chemotherapy: Systemic chemotherapy to manage and reduce cancer, often used in conjunction with surgery or as a standalone treatment if surgery isn’t feasible.
